(CPOD) Sept. 17, 2003 - Americans remain confident in their government's approach to protect the country against future attacks, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 55 per cent of respondents say the U.S. is winning the war against terrorism.

President George W. Bush addressed the nation on Sept. 7, and outlined his plan to request $87 billion U.S. to continue military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. 46 per cent of respondents would approve the petition, if they could vote on it.

Americans believe the military will be engaged in a lasting battle to rid the world of terrorism. 34 per cent of all respondents say the effort will last a long time or forever, and only seven per cent believe an eventual victory will come within the next two years.
