U.S. Agencies Should Observe Environmental Laws
(CPOD) May 1, 2003 - Americans do not want United States government agencies and departments to ignore existing environmental standards, according to a poll by Zogby America. 75 per cent of respondents say the government agencies should not get exemptions.
The U.S. Congress is currently pondering a proposal that would allow the U.S. military to overlook laws, such as the Clean Water and Clean Air acts. Advocates argue that these environmental standards interfere with military readiness and national security guidelines.
Despite the recent support for troops during the war in Iraq, the results are very similar to those found last year.
