Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research
Ukrainians Decry Shoplifting, Drunk Driving
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Adults in Ukraine believe two actions are always objectionable, according to a poll by the Kiev Gorshenin Institute of Management Issues. 88.4 per cent of respondents believe shoplifting is never acceptable, and 86.7 per cent of respondents feel the same way about drunk driving.
Homosexual relations are third on the list with 81.3 per cent. More than half of respondents would never accept public littering, traffic violations, rudeness, and adultery. Conversely, less than two-in-five respondents express strong objections to travelling in public transit without a ticket, abortion, becoming an informant, jumping the queue, and premarital sex.
Ukraine gained its independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. On that same year, the country decriminalized homosexuality.
In November 2004, Ukrainian lawmakers amended the country’s abortion legislation, reducing the period when a woman can choose to terminate a pregnancy from 28 weeks of gestation to 22 weeks.
