Too Many Immigrants, Say Americans

Abstract: (CPOD) Jul. 18, 2003 - Many Americans believe the number of immigrants the country takes in should be reduced, according to a poll by Gallup. 47 per cent of respondents believe current levels of acceptance must decrease.

(CPOD) Jul. 18, 2003 - Many Americans believe the number of immigrants the country takes in should be reduced, according to a poll by Gallup. 47 per cent of respondents believe current levels of acceptance must decrease.

Support for tighter admission rules has declined slightly over the past two years. In October 2001—right after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks—only eight per cent of respondents wanted an increase to immigration levels.
