(CPOD) Aug. 28, 2003 - Rick Perry is losing public support in Texas, according to a poll by Scripps Data Center. 48 per cent of respondents disapprove of the governor's performance, his lowest rating since being elected on November 2002.
Perry took office after George W. Bush on Dec. 21, 2000, and was later elected to a four-year term in 2002.
The state has been the site of a bitter fight over a controversial redistricting bill. In order to break a quorum in the legislature, 11 senate Democrats traveled to New Mexico to prevent the passage of the plan. 62 per cent of respondents oppose the walkout.
