Tax Cuts A Good Idea For Americans

May 10, 2003

(CPOD) May 10, 2003 - The end of the war in Iraq has made adults in the United States more receptive to George W. Bush's fiscal proposals, according to a poll by Gallup released by CNN and USA Today. 47 per cent of respondents say the tax cuts proposed by the president will help the economy, an 11 per cent increase since last month.

Before coalition forces could claim a victory in the war against Saddam Hussein, Americans were preoccupied with the effect the tax cuts could have on the economy. This month, 52 per cent of respondents say the proposals are a good idea, a 10 per cent increase since April.

Last week, Republican senators finalized a $430 billion U.S. proposal, which includes $20 million U.S. in emergency aid to states. Bush is scheduled to appear in several states next week to push for a $550 U.S. billion, 10-year tax cut.
