(CPOD) Sept. 10, 2003 - Swede voters appear to be leaning towards keeping the Krona as the national monetary unit, according to a poll by Rouab published in Dagens Industri. 46 per cent of respondents want to retain the currency, a seven per cent lead over the pro-Euro camp.

Sweden will hold a referendum on Sept. 14, to decide whether or not to adopt the Euro, which has been used in 12 of the 15 European Union (EU) countries since Jan. 1, 2002. Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain are the only current EU members that have not adopted the currency.

All government acts of support for the adoption of the Euro were postponed today, after foreign minister Anna Lindh was stabbed while shopping at a Stockholm department store. Her injuries were reported as serious and life-threatening.
