Slight Gain For Euro Backers In Sweden
(CPOD) Aug. 25, 2003 - Euro advocates appear to be gathering support in Sweden, according to a poll by Temo published in Dagens Nyheter. 39 per cent of respondents will vote to adopt the European currency, a four per cent increase in two weeks.
Sweden will hold a plebiscite on Sept. 14, to gauge public opinion on whether or not to adopt the Euro, which has been used in 12 of the 15 European Union (EU) countries since Jan. 1, 2002. Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain are the only current EU members that have not adopted the currency.
The pro-Krona side kept the same level of support, at 49 per cent.
