Saudis Have Unfavorable Opinion Of U.S.

(CPOD) Aug. 10, 2003 - Most people in Saudi Arabia hold negative feelings toward America, according to a poll by Zogby International and Information International. 74 per cent of respondents have an unfavorable view of the United States.

An overwhelming majority of Saudis reject Osama bin Laden. 88 per cent believe the actions of the al-Qaeda leader are not consistent with the values of Islam. Foreign minister Saud al Faisal has repeatedly denied the government's involvement in the 9/11 attacks. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers who participated in the operation were Saudi citizens.

Saudi Arabia recently endured a terrorist attack, when three car bombs exploded in Riyadh on May 12, killing 34 people.
