Saudis Are Not Allies, Say Americans

(CPOD) Aug. 2, 2003 - Americans do not view the Saudi government as a friendly entity, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 67 per cent of respondents do not believe Saudi Arabia is an ally of the United States in the war against terrorism.

Foreign minister Saud al Faisal has repeatedly denied the government's involvement in the 9/11 attacks. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers who participated in the operation were Saudi citizens. 71 per cent of respondents want U.S. authorities to demand more action from Saudi Arabia.

Almost two years after 9/11, Americans believe their government will avoid a future attack. 62 per cent of respondents are confident that U.S. intelligence agencies will be able to prevent terrorist acts.
