Russians Content With Putin
(CPOD) Apr. 23, 2004 - Many Russians believe their president has grown in office, according to a poll by the Public Opinion Foundation. 43 per cent of respondents say Vladimir Putin has changed for the better since becoming Russia's head of state.
Putin won a second four-year term in the Mar. 14 election, with 71.31 per cent of the vote. The pro-Kremlin United Russia (YR) currently controls 222 seats in the State Duma, a fact that has led to questions over a possible change in presidential term limits.
Only four per cent of respondents believe Putin has changed for the worse since becoming president.
