Putin Approval Dips In Russia

(CPOD) Aug. 9, 2003 - The numbers for Vlaidimir Putin went down in Russia, according to a poll by the Public Opinion Foundation. 40 per cent of respondents rate the president's performance as good, a five per cent drop since July.
The last few weeks have seen a series of attacks in Russian cities, allegedly perpetrated by separatist Chechen forces. On Aug. 1, at least 50 people died after a car bomb destroyed a military hospital in Mozdok.
The president will seek a second four-year term in office in March 2004.
