President Bush Falls to 32% in United States

February 11, 2007

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public backing for George W. Bush dropped again in the United States, according to two recent public opinion polls. 32 per cent of respondents to a Gallup survey released by USA Today approve of the president's performance, down two points since mid-January.

In a study by Ipsos-Public Affairs released by the Associated Press, 32 per cent of respondents are satisfied with Bush's performance, down four points in three weeks.

Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election. Yesterday in his weekly radio address, Bush discussed his energy and environmental priorities, saying, "Every member of Congress who cares about strengthening our economy, protecting our national security, and confronting climate change should support the energy initiatives I have set out. By working together to pass energy legislation soon, we can help solve one of the great challenges facing our generation. And we can leave behind a cleaner and better world for our children and grandchildren."

Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.
