Political Parties Deemed Corrupt In Global Poll

(CPOD) Jul. 8, 2003 - Political organizations are perceived as corrupt institutions, according to a global poll by Gallup for Transparency International. A majority of respondents in 33 of the 47 surveyed countries believe honesty is missing from parties in their regions.

More than half of all respondents in Argentina and Japan want to eliminate corruption from political parties. Mexico and Nigeria top a six-country list where law enforcement is deemed crooked, and Peruvians showed the least regard for the courts. Medical services were the main cause for concern in Croatia and Georgia.
