(CPOD) Sept. 22, 2003 - Many New York residents want Rudy Giuliani to become involved in public service once again, according to a poll by the Marist College Institute of Public Opinion. 62 per cent of respondents say they favor a return to politics for the former New York City mayor.

Giuliani --who garnered national and international attention in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks-- is currently managing a consulting company. 31 per cent of respondents want the former mayor to run for governor, and seven per cent consider him a good choice to replace current vice-president Dick Cheney in the 2004 Republican presidential ticket.

In a hypothetical senate race, Giuliani would beat incumbent Hillary Rodham Clinton by 17 per cent.
