Kirchner Remains On Top In Argentina
(CPOD) Jul. 22, 2003 - Néstor Kirchner keeps riding a popularity wave in Argentina, according to a poll by Ricardo Rouvier y Asociados. 78.9 per cent of respondents have a positive opinion of the president.
Kirchner took office last May, after former president Carlos Menem trailed in the polls and decided to withdraw from a run-off election.
The president will travel to the United States this week, to meet with president George W. Bush. The trip is key to strengthening ties between the two countries, as Kirchner looks to discuss topics such as terrorism, corruption and the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas.
