(Angus Reid Global Scan) - Many adults in Britain are unhappy with their national administration, according to a poll by MORI. 52 per cent of respondents are dissatisfied with the way the government is performing.
British voters renewed the House of Commons on May 5. The governing Labour party secured 356 seats, followed by the Conservatives with 197 and the Liberal Democrats with 62.
Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy is the top-rated party leader with 49 per cent. Prime minister and Labour leader Tony Blair is second with 38 per cent, followed by current Conservative leader Michael Howard—who has announced his intention to step down in the fall—with 28 per cent.
Yesterday, Kennedy asked the prime minister to urge the United States government to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Blair replied, "Climate change (is) the biggest single issue we face. (...) I will be doing my very best to persuade the U.S. and other countries that it's important we take action on this issue."
