Human Security Is Key Global Concern

(Angus Reid - CPOD Global Scan) - Human security remains a priority for citizens around the world, according to the Voice of the People survey released by Gallup International. 68 per cent of respondents in 65 countries believe the world is not making enough progress in reducing wars and conflicts.

According to the upcoming Human Security Report, more people have died at the hands of their own governments than have been killed by foreign armies during the last 100 years. More than 90 per cent of armed conflicts now take place within, and not between, states.

At least 60 per cent of respondents say more should be done to curb global organized crime and deal with terrorism. 54 per cent of respondents support improving human rights around the world.
