Hamm Loses Points In Nova Scotia

(CPOD) Jun. 3, 2004 - John Hamm is losing public backing in Nova Scotia, according to a poll by Corporate Research Associates. 45 per cent of respondents in the Canadian province are satisfied with the premier's performance, a six per cent drop since February.

The ruling Progressive Conservatives won 25 of the Legislative Assembly's 52 seats in the last election, held on Aug. 5, 2003. Hamm has served as premier since 1999.

On Apr. 22, the Nova Scotia government introduced its 2004-2005 provincial budget, which establishes tax reductions for 96 per cent of all adult residents of the province.

Canadian voters will renew the federal House of Commons on Jun. 28. Hamm has openly supported Conservative leader Stephen Harper.
