Giuliani Could Be Next NY Governor

(CPOD) Jan. 19, 2004 - Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani could become governor in 2006, according to a poll by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. At least 52 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican in head-to-head contests against two prospective Democratic rivals.
Giuliani holds a 17 per cent lead over senator Charles Schumer, and a 21 per cent lead over attorney general Eliot Spitzer.
The former mayor --who garnered national and international attention in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks-- is said to be considering a return to public service.
