French See Good Qualities In Sarkozy
(CPOD) May 31, 2004 - Many French voters in France regard finance minister Nicolas Sarkozy in a positive light, according to a poll by CSA published in Le Parisien. More than 70 per cent of respondents regard Sarkozy as ambitious, courageous and effective.
Centre-right parties had a dismal showing in the Mar. 28 regional elections, and a series of cabinet changes were announced on Mar. 31. Sarkozy—who had acted as the country's interior minister since 2002—was switched to finance.
Sarkozy is considered as a possible presidential candidate in the 2007 election. Current interior minister Dominique de Villepin is expected to be Sarkozy's key rival for the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) nomination.
