Fatah Remains Top Faction For Palestinians
(CPOD) Sept. 22, 2003 - The Fatah Movement is the most supported political faction for residents of Gaza and the West Bank, according to a poll by Najah University. 24.7 per cent of respondents would support the political organization led by Palestinian Authority president Yasser Arafat.
The combination of support for two Islamic groups --Hamas and Islamic Jihad-- reaches 26.6 per cent, slightly above Fatah.
Today, Arafat committed to a total ceasefire in letters sent to the developers of the road map for peace in the Middle East - the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia. The Israeli government dismissed the idea.
