Fatah Remains On Top In Palestine
(CPOD) Dec. 18, 2003 - The Fatah Movement is the top political faction for residents of Gaza and the West Bank, according to a poll by the Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research. 25 per cent of respondents support the political organization led by Palestinian Authority president Yasser Arafat.
The combined backing for radical Islamic groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad reaches 26 per cent, slightly above Fatah.
For the third year in a row, Israel barred Arafat from participating in Bethlehem's Christmas celebrations.
