Europeans Positive On Continental Integration

(CPOD) Aug. 8, 2003 - Residents of the European Union (EU) support continental integration, according to the results of the latest Eurobarometer. 54 per cent of all respondents say EU membership is a good thing for their respective countries.
The Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia have held positive referenda on EU membership this year. Citizens of Cyprus, Estonia and Latvia will vote on the matter in the upcoming months.
Luxembourg and the Netherlands were the countries with the most positive responses towards the EU, while 27 per cent of Swede residents view continental integration negatively.
