Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research
Environment is Key Concern in Nine Countries
(Angus Reid Global Scan) - Adults in nine nations around the world are worried about ecology, according to the GMI World Poll. 91 per cent of respondents in Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States are very or somewhat concerned about the future of the environment in general.
The term global warming refers to an increase of the Earth's average temperature. Some theories say that climate change might be the result of human-generated carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
In July 2005 at the G-8 summit in Perthshire, Scotland, the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States promised to implement a "new dialogue" on climate change, deeming the issue a "serious long-term challenge" for the planet. 86 per cent of respondents believe there is a connection between the protection of the environment and the quality of their lives.
