(CPOD) Dec. 17, 2003 - Residents of Montana are concerned with financial matters, according to a poll by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research released by Lee Newspapers. 52 per cent of respondents say jobs, development and the economy are the most important issues in the state.

A report by the Department of Labor and Industry suggests Montana is slowly showing signs of recovery. The state's unemployment rate dropped from 4.2 per cent in October 2002, to 3.8 per cent in October 2003.

Republican George W. Bush won Montana's three electoral votes in 2000, with 58 per cent of all cast ballots. Bill Clinton in 1992 is the only Democrat who has carried the state in the last nine presidential elections.
