Economy Bigger Problem Than Terror, Say Americans

(CPOD) Sept. 17, 2003 - Almost a year before the next presidential election, Americans want their government to focus on financial matters, according to a poll by ABC News and the Washington Post. 61 per cent of respondents say the economy is a bigger problem than terrorism.

President George W. Bush addressed the nation on Sept. 7, and outlined his plan to request $87 billion U.S. to continue military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. 61 per cent of respondents are opposed to the idea. The approval rating for Bush is currently at 58 per cent, a 19 per cent drop since April.
