Canadians Want To Postpone Tobacco Ad Ban

September 02, 2003

(CPOD) Sept. 2, 2003 - Canadians want to adjourn a ban on cigarette advertising, according to a poll by Leger Marketing. 57 per cent of respondents believe the enforcement of the anti-tobacco law should be postponed until 2005.

Unless an extension is granted, tobacco companies will be unable to sponsor any public events in Canada, starting on Oct. 1. The Grand Prix of Montreal -backed by several cigarette producers- has reportedly been taken off the list of contests for the 2004 auto-racing championship.
