Canadians Less Safe, More Prosperous

(CPOD) Jan. 22, 2004 - Many Canadians are concerned over threats to their security, according to a poll by Leger Marketing. 42 per cent of respondents feel less safe now than 10 years ago.

The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 are blamed for the change in attitudes towards security in Canada. The country shares the largest unguarded border in the world with the United States.

Despite their unease about safety, many Canadians are satisfied with their financial situation. 41 per cent of respondents believe they are more economically prosperous now than a decade ago.
