Americans Test Bush, Kerry In Six Topics

(CPOD) Feb. 16, 2004 - Americans see George W. Bush as a capable politician in foreign policy issues, according to a poll by ABC News and the Washington Post. More than 48 per cent of respondents believe the current president would do a better job than prospective election rival John Kerry in the topics of terrorism and Iraq.

Kerry has won 14 of the 16 Democratic presidential contests held so far, making him the frontrunner for his party's nomination. The Massachusetts senator fares better than the Republican president in domestic matters. More than 49 per cent of respondents believe Kerry would do a better job dealing with the economy, education, job creation and health insurance.

Bush, who will not be challenged by any member of the Republican Party for the nomination, has raised $148 million U.S. for his uncontested primary. The presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
