Gas Prices Cause Hardship For Americans
(Angus Reid Global Scan) - Many adults in the United States are concerned about rising fuel costs, according to a poll by Gallup released by CNN and USA Today. 58 per cent of respondents say recent price increases have caused financial hardship.
For the past three weeks, gas prices have risen all over the U.S. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average cost of a gallon of fuel is currently $2.22 U.S. In each of the country's 50 states, the price of gasoline is higher than $2.00 U.S.
On Apr. 5, federal reserve chairman Alan Greenspan said the world markets for oil and gas have been "subject to a degree of strain over the past year not experienced for a generation."
Yesterday, the price of a barrel of crude oil was $56.41 U.S.—close to the all-time high of $57.60 U.S. The cost has increased by more than $20 U.S. in 12 months.
