Bush Victory Seems Certain In Alabama

Abstract: (CPOD) Oct. 6, 2004 - George W. Bush would carry the state of Alabama in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by SurveyUSA released by WKRG-TV. 62 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent, while 34 per cent would support Democratic nominee John Kerry.

(CPOD) Oct. 6, 2004 - George W. Bush would carry the state of Alabama in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by SurveyUSA released by WKRG-TV. 62 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent, while 34 per cent would support Democratic nominee John Kerry.

Three per cent of respondents would vote for other candidates or remain undecided. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Backing for Bush increased by four per cent since August, while support for Kerry dropped by three per cent.

Bush won the state's nine electoral votes in 2000, with 56.5 per cent of all cast ballots. No Democrat has carried Alabama since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
