(CPOD) Oct. 4, 2004 - George W. Bush could carry the state of Colorado in the 2004 United States presidential race, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 48 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent, while 44 per cent would support Democratic nominee John Kerry.
Three per cent of respondents would vote for independent candidate Ralph Nader, while one per cent would back Michael Badnarik of the Libertarian Party and Green party candidate David Cobb. Three per cent remain undecided.
Support for Bush increased by two per cent since mid-September, while backing for Kerry dropped by one per cent. In August, Bush and Kerry were tied at 47 per cent. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
Bush won Colorado's eight electoral votes in 2000, with 50.8 per cent of all cast ballots. Bill Clinton in 1992 is the only Democrat who has carried the state in the past nine presidential elections.
