In South Dakota, Bush Has Double-Digit Lead

(CPOD) Oct. 4, 2004 - George W. Bush would carry the state of South Dakota in the 2004 U.S. presidential election, according to a poll by Zogby International released by the Watertown Public Opinion, the Daily Republic, the Rapid City Journal, KSFY-TV and KOTA-TV. 57 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent, while 29 per cent would support Democratic nominee John Kerry.
Two per cent of respondents would vote for independent candidate Ralph Nader, and 12 per cent remain undecided. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
Bush won South Dakota's three electoral votes in the 2000 election, with 60.3 per cent of the vote. No Democrat has carried South Dakota since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.
