Kerry Still First In Washington

Abstract: (CPOD) Oct. 3, 2004 - John Kerry could carry the state of Washington in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 50 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democratic nominee, while 43 per cent would support Republican incumbent George W. Bush.

(CPOD) Oct. 3, 2004 - John Kerry could carry the state of Washington in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 50 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democratic nominee, while 43 per cent would support Republican incumbent George W. Bush.

Two per cent of respondents would vote for another candidate, and five per cent remain undecided. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Backing for both Bush and Kerry increased by one per cent since August. In July, the Democrat held a nine per cent lead over the Republican.

Democrat Al Gore won Washington State's 11 electoral votes in the 2000 presidential election, with 50.2 per cent of the vote. The last Republican to carry the state was Ronald Reagan in 1984.
