Delaware Voters Pick Kerry Over Bush

(CPOD) Sept. 29, 2004 - John Kerry could carry the state of Delaware in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by West Chester University's Center for Social and Economic Research released by WHYY. 42.5 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democratic nominee, while 37.6 per cent would support Republican incumbent George W. Bush.

Independent candidate Ralph Nader garners the support of 0.5 per cent of respondents, 0.8 per cent would support other contenders and 15.9 per cent remain undecided. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Democrat Al Gore won the state's three electoral votes in the 2000 presidential election, with 55 per cent of the vote. The last Republican to carry Delaware was George H. Bush in 1988.
