As Expected, Bush Leads In Texas

(CPOD) Sept. 26, 2004 - George W. Bush would carry his home state of Texas in the 2004 United States presidential election, according to a poll by American Research Group. 58 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican incumbent, while 36 per cent would support Democratic nominee John Kerry.

One per cent of respondents would vote for independent candidate Ralph Nader, one per cent would support another contender and five per cent are undecided. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Bush—a former governor of Texas—won the state's 32 electoral votes in 2000, with 59.3 per cent of the vote. No Democrat has carried the Lone Star State since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
