Vermont: Obama 60%, McCain 36%
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama could carry Vermont in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 60 per cent of respondents in the Green Mountain State would back the Illinois senator, while 36 per cent would vote for Republican Arizona senator John McCain.
In a poll by Research 2000, Obama holds a 19-point lead over McCain.
In 2004, Democrat John Kerry carried Vermont’s three electoral votes, with 59 per cent of all cast ballots. No Republican has carried the Green Mountain State since George H. Bush in 1988.
U.S. president George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
