Nebraska: McCain 55%, Obama 36%
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry the Cornhusker State in this year’s United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 55 per cent of respondents would vote for the Arizona senator, while 36 per cent would back Illinois senator Barack Obama.
Nine per cent of respondents are undecided, or would vote for other candidates.
In 2004, Bush won Nebraska’s five electoral votes—three from each of the state’s congressional districts plus two more for winning the statewide popular vote—with 67 per cent of all cast ballots. No Democrat has carried the state since Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next United States presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
