Kentucky to Stay Red in 2008 U.S. Ballot
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain holds the upper hand in Kentucky, according to a poll by Research 2000. At least 53 per cent of respondents in the Bluegrass State would vote for the Arizona senator in the 2008 United States presidential election, while 41 per cent would support Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In a separate contest, Illinois senator Barack Obama trails McCain by 25 points.
In 2004, Republican George W. Bush carried Kentucky’s eight electoral votes, with 60 per cent of all cast ballots. The Bluegrass State has picked the eventual White House dweller in every presidential election since 1964.
Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next United States presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.
