Hillary is Clear Favourite in New York
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton holds a considerable advantage over Republican John McCain in New York, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 60 per cent of respondents in the Empire State would vote for their U.S. senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 31 per cent would support Republican Arizona senator John McCain.
In a separate contest, McCain trails Illinois senator Barack Obama by 17 points.
In 2004, Democratic nominee John Kerry carried New York’s 31 electoral votes, with 58 per cent of the vote. No Republican has won the Empire State since Ronald Reagan in 1984.
U.S. president George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
