McCain Ahead of Obama in New Hampshire
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain could carry the Granite State in the 2008 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 51 per cent of respondents would vote for the Arizona senator, while 41 per cent would support Democratic Illinois senator Barack Obama.
In a separate contest, Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton holds a three-point edge over McCain.
In 2004, Democrat John Kerry won New Hampshire’s four electoral votes, with 50 per cent of the vote. The Granite State had backed the eventual president in every U.S. election since 1980.
Incumbent George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
