McCain Trails Obama in Minnesota
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain in Minnesota, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 47 per cent of respondents in the North Star State would back the Illinois senator in the 2008 United States presidential election, while 43 per cent would vote for Republican Arizona senator John McCain.
In a separate contest, Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is virtually tied with McCain.
In 2004, Democrat John Kerry carried Minnesota’s 10 electoral votes, with 51 per cent of all cast ballots. The last Republican to win the North Star State in a presidential election was Richard Nixon in 1972.
U.S. president George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
