Rodham Clinton Could Win in Pennsylvania

November 06, 2007

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton could carry the Keystone State in the 2008 United States presidential election, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. At least 48 per cent of respondents would vote for the New York senator in head-to-head contests against four prospective Republican rivals.

Rodham Clinton holds a 13-point lead over former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, a 16-point advantage over actor and former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson, a 10-point lead over Arizona senator John McCain, and a 23-point advantage over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

In 2004, Democratic nominee John Kerry carried Pennsylvania’s 21 electoral votes, with 51 per cent of the vote. No Republican has won the Keystone State since George H. Bush in 1988.

U.S. president George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next United States presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.
