President Bush Drops Even Lower in U.S.
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Fewer adults in the United States are satisfied with George W. Bush, according to three recent public opinion polls. In a survey by Opinion Research Corporation released by CNN, 32 per cent of respondents approve of their president's performance, down six points since early May.
Bush's approval rating stands at 31 per cent in a study by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News, and 27 per cent in a poll by CBS News. These three surveys represent all-time lows for the current head of state.
Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election. The U.S. president's approval rating has not surpassed the 40 per cent mark in a national survey since December 2006.
In his Jun. 30 radio address, Bush discussed the war in Iraq, saying, "The enemy continues to carry out sensational attacks, but the number of car bombings and suicide attacks has been down in May and June. And because of our new strategy, U.S. and Iraqi forces are living among the people they secure, with the result that many Iraqis are now coming forward with information on where the terrorists are hiding."
