Wyoming Governor: Freudenthal 63%, Hunkins 30%
- Dave Freudenthal could earn a new term as Wyoming's governor, according to the latest poll by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. 63 per cent of respondents in the Equality State would support the Democratic incumbent, while 30 per cent would vote for Republican Ray Hunkins.
An early July survey by Rasmussen Reports gave Freudenthal a 29-point lead over Hunkins.
Freudenthal has served as governor since January 2003. In the 2002 election, he defeated Republican Eli Bebout with 50 per cent of the vote.
Hunkins is an attorney and former police officer. He launched a bid for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in 2002, but finished second to Bebout in a five-person race.
The gubernatorial election is scheduled for Nov. 7. Since 1961, the Equality State has had three Republican and four Democratic heads of government.
