Mixed Reviews for President Bush in U.S.
(Angus Reid Global Scan) - Satisfaction with George W. Bush remains low the United States, according to five recent public opinion polls. In the surveys by Bloomberg and the Los Angeles Times, and the Center for Survey Research and Analysis at the University of Connecticut, 39 per cent of respondents approve of the president's performance.
In studies by Harris Interactive, and Princeton Survey Research Associates for the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 35 per cent of respondents hold a positive opinion of Bush. In a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News, 33 per cent of respondents approve of the president's performance.
Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election. His numbers in the Opinion Dynamics survey represent an all-time approval low.
Yesterday in his weekly radio address, Bush outlined his views on legislative issues, saying, "As Congress returns from its recess, its members have important and consequential work before them. I urge them to act on my initiatives to keep America competitive, to promote alternative sources of energy, reform our immigration system, and continue their support of our troops fighting in the global war on terror."
