Bush Approval Falls to 36% in United States

November 29, 2005

(Angus Reid Global Scan) - Fewer Americans express satisfaction with George W. Bush, according to a poll by American Research Group. 36 per cent of respondents approve of the president's performance, down two points since October.

The approval rating registered by Bush this month is the lowest of his tenure in an American Research Group survey. The U.S. president had his best showing in January 2005 with 51 per cent.

Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election. This month, Bush has registered all-time approval lows in surveys released by nine different polling firms and media outlets.

Yesterday, Bush discussed border security issues in Arizona, saying, "As we enforce our immigration laws, comprehensive immigration reform also requires us to improve those laws by creating a new temporary worker program. (...) This program would help meet the demands of a growing economy, and it would allow honest workers to provide for their families while respecting the law." 31 per cent of respondents approve of the way Bush is handling the economy, down three points since October.
