(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Australian Labor Party (ALP) remains the dominant force in the country’s political scene, according to a poll by Newspoll published in The Australian. 44 per cent of respondents would support the ALP in the next election to the House of Representatives.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The recently-created Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party continues to draw high popular support, according to a poll by Alpha Research. 24.5 per cent of respondents would vote for the pro-European party in the next general election, up one point since September.

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Poland’s ruling party has lost public backing but remains well ahead of its rivals, according to a poll by PBS DGA published in Gazeta Wyborcza. 48 per cent of respondents would vote for the Civic Platform (PO) in the next legislative election, down 10 points since September.

Russians Fear Major Financial Crisis
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many people in Russia think the country could fall back into a difficult financial situation like the one experienced in 1998, according to a poll by Bashkirova & Partners. 46.3 per cent of respondents share this view, while 34.1 per cent disagree.

Conservative Lead Narrows in Britain
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Conservative party holds a smaller advantage over the governing Labour party in Britain, according to a poll by Populus published in The Times. 41 per cent of respondents would support the Tories in the next election to the House of Commons, while 35 per cent would vote for Labour.

Israelis Not Concerned with Obama Win
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most adults in Israel adults are not worried about Barack Obama becoming the new president of the United States, according to a poll by Shvakim Panorama released by Israel Radio. 63.3 per cent of respondents are not concerned about Obama’s victory.

Japanese Not Ready for Snap Election
(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Only a third of adults in Japan believe the country should hold a new election to the House of Representatives, according to a poll by Asahi. 57 per cent of respondents think the lower house should not be dissolved at this time.
