Czech Opinion Shifting on Missile Shield
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The proportion of people who support participating in a defence project with the United States has increased in the Czech Republic, according to a poll by Factum Invenio published in Mlada fronta Dnes. 38 per cent of respondents agree with the U.S. installing part of its defence capabilities on Czech soil, up 13 points since October 2007.

Washington: Obama 53%, McCain 43%
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead of Republican John McCain in the Evergreen State, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 53 per cent of respondents in Washington would back the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 43 per cent would vote for the Arizona senator.

Georgia: McCain 49%, Obama 46%
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Republican John McCain holds the upper hand over Democrat Barack Obama in Georgia, according to a poll by Insider Advantage. 49 per cent of respondents in the Peach State would vote for the Arizona senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 46 per cent would support the Illinois senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain in the Centennial State, according to a poll by Insider Advantage. 51 per cent of the respondents in Colorado would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 45 per cent would support the Arizona senator.

Palestinians Favour Extending Abbas’s Term
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Two thirds of adults in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank want Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas to remain in office as president of the Palestinian Authority, according to a poll by Near East Consulting. 67 per cent of respondents would support extending the term of Abbas, while 37 per cent would oppose it.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - National party leader John Key is viewed by many people in New Zealand as the best person to head the government, according to a poll by Colmar Brunton released by One News. 41 per cent of respondents want Key to be prime minister, up five points since August.

Conservative Piñera Leads Rivals in Chile
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Sebastián Piñera continues to be favoured by roughly two-in-four Chileans to become president after the next ballot, according to a poll by Imaginaccion. 38.7 per cent of respondents would vote for the conservative candidate of the National Renewal (RN) party in next year’s election, up five points since May.

Belarusians Say Legislature is Necessary
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Most people in Belarus say having a working House of Representatives is important for the country’s good governance, according to a poll by the Independent Institute for Social, Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS). 65.3 per cent of respondents say Belarus needs the legislature, while 21.4 per cent say the president can organize the country’s life by himself.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - More French adults are satisfied with Nicolas Sarkozy, according to a poll by CSA publishes in Le Parisien. 49 per cent of respondents have confidence in their president to face the country’s problems, up eight points in a month.

Americans Like McCain Mortgage Solution
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the United States support an idea proposed by Republican presidential nominee John McCain to deal with the mortgage crisis, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 52 per cent of respondents favour a plan where the government would buy unaffordable mortgages directly from mortgage servicers and renegotiate manageable fixed-rate mortgages with the homeowner so they can stay in their homes.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Adults in Canada have a clear idea of which energy policies should be a priority for the country, according to a poll by Angus Reid Strategies released by Corus Radio. 68 per cent of respondents would focus on conserving energy and resources, and regulating energy use and prices.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in the United States are against their country’s military deployment in Iraq, according to a poll by Opinion Research Corporation released by CNN. 65 per cent of respondents oppose the U.S. war in Iraq, up four points since September.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama is ahead in the Hawkeye State, according to a poll by Research 2000. 55 per cent of respondents in Iowa would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 39 per cent would support Arizona senator John McCain.
